Visit databases below to explore topics. They contain short articles on important topics in the news.  Remember to select a topic that can be developed as a pro/con argument.  Have your Student ID handy:

  • Global Issues and Context
  • Today's Science
  • Issues & Controversies
    • Issues and Controversies and Global Issues and Context will have more pro/con documents whereas Today's Science will have more general reports on topics in biology.
    • Search your topic using a broad term (i.e. "greenhouse gases")
    • Explore the results list making sure to check the date of the report--don't use something over 5-7 years old
    • Read the report and look at the bibliography near the end of the report for more sources.
  • CQ Researcher
    • Search your topic using a broad term (i.e. "climate change")
    • Explore the results list making sure to check the date of the report--don't use something over 5-7 years old
