American News Sources

  • CNN
This is a staple American news source. It is considered less openly biased compared to Fox News and MSNBC although as with all media, it's reporting should be examined with a critical eye.
  • Fox News
This is the most popular TV news channel. Allegations against Fox for conservative bias should be heeded and as with all news sources a keen eye must be kept.
  • MSNBC
This news source is less popular than either CNN or Fox but is recognized more broadly to have a progressive tilt as a news agency. Just as with Fox News, one should be on the look-out for biased reporting.
  • The New York Times
This is the newspaper of record in the United States. Their most comprehensive coverage of news, opinion, and other topics occurs when the Sunday edition is published. Some articles are not available to read online unless you are a paid subscriber.
  • The Washington Post
This is another popular national news paper. While the New York Times has an increasing number of articles behind its pay wall, this site is completely free for the time being.
  • USA Today
Not as prestigious as either the New York Times or the Washington Post, this newspaper is still pretty popular as a source for national news.
